Latvian and Lithuanian culture in photographs

Posted on March 6th, 2008 · 3 comments · ShareThis

It isn’t exactly a comprehensive survey, but I enjoyed About.com’s Latvian Culture 101 in Photos when I stumbled across it today. There are only seven images, but it provides a nice cross-section – I found the paragraph on writing sins down on rocks particularly interesting. The photos are well-chosen too.

Actually, as I was writing this post it occurred to me to check out the other Baltic countries and – lo and behold – there is a section on Lithuanian culture but not (as far as I can tell) anything on Estonia.

Hi. I appreciate you sharing these links with your readers. I understand that these brief cultural articles are limited. It is somewhat difficult to find a decent array of quality images available for website use that represent cultural aspects of these countries. I have a few for Estonia, but not even as many as I have for Latvia, and certainly not enough to create a useful article. If you know of someone who would be willing to share quality photos for photographer credit, please have him or her contact me! I would love to complete the series on Baltic nation culture. In the meantime, I’ll keep searching.

Your site contains a lot of great information! I’ll certainly draw my readers’ attention to it.

    Thanks,

Hi Kerry, thanks for dropping by. I sometimes forget that trackbacks mean that other bloggers know what I am saying about them…

I don’t know anyone off-hand who would be able to contribute images, as the only people I know would require a fee and I get the impression that one isn’t on offer. If anything comes to mind then I’ll let you know.

Thanks too for your kind words about Baltic Visitor!

John - I’m glad I found your comment because it allows me to return the link favor.

Yes, for now I can only offer photographers credit for their work. If I manage to put together a piece on Estonian culture, I’ll let you know.

    Thanks again!
