Earlier in 2007 the Estonian Ministry for Economy and Communications said that Ryanair would be flying to their nation’s capital by the autumn. There’s still no sign of the aggressive price-cutting carrier in Tallinn, but the Baltic Times reports that representatives of the ministry held talks with the airline on 12 October, and there are signs of progress.
In typical Ryanair fashion the holdup was over Tallinn airport’s refusal to lower its fees for the low cost carrier, but since the meeting the airport’s CEO Rein Loik has said that fees may drop for all airlines across the board. There is still no official word on when this might happen and when (or if) Tallinn might see the influx of Ryanair passengers witnessed in Riga.
