Until a few days ago I had never heard the term ’scooper’ when applied to beer. Then I started doing some research into Baltic drinks, and came across a site called ScooperGen. I had always realised that some people like to try as many beers as they can, eschewing dull mass market brands and checking out more interesting drinks both at home and abroad. What I hadn’t really thought about was the possibility for this to become a pastime akin to trainspotting.
The site is actually very informative and light-hearted in its obsessions. And readers thinking of heading to the Baltics would do well to check out its sections on Estonia and Latvia. The reports are lengthy and anecdotal, but include plenty of advice on beers which are worth trying and (just as importantly) places where they can be found. Apparently Lithuania is on the list for a visit in 2007.

Great blog. Alcohol plus an area of the world that has begun to fascinate me (also because I know so little about it). Will be back here often.
