Gay Pride march will go ahead in central Tallinn

Posted on August 1st, 2007 · No comments yet · ShareThis

Estonian police have confirmed that this year’s Gay Pride march will be allowed to take place in central Tallinn on 11th August. There had been concerns earlier in July regarding the route, with the police concerned about the safety of participants following violence from homophobic protesters last year.

The route has been changed slightly, although organiser Lisette Kampus says in the Baltic Times that ‘the route is not very different to the one we originally proposed, but it takes the police concerns into account.’

Tighter security is planned at this years event.
