More trouble in Riga: Four British tourists arrested

Posted on June 7th, 2007 · No comments yet · ShareThis

The evening of Tuesday 5th June saw another incident involving Riga’s police and foreign tourists. The Baltic Times reports that four British tourists were engaged in a brawl with local residents when the police arrived at around 9pm. During the ensuing fracas, one of the tourists is said to have sprayed tear gas into the face of a police officer.

While it appears that the other three will face minor charges, the tourist who wielded the spray is set to be charged for the much more serious offence of assault on a police officer.
