Intercity bus operator Eurolines has announced that from 20th June it will run a daily bus service between the Latvian capital Riga and the Estonian town of Narva. The journey will take 7 hours each way:
- Departing Narva 4am – Arriving Riga at 11am
- Departing Riga 7pm - Arriving Narva 2am
Narva is the easternmost major settlement in Estonia, and the third largest city in the country. Although the town itself suffered during the Second World War its 13th century castle is a tourist draw, standing on the opposite bank of the river from the Ivangorod Fortress in Russia. Close by is a beach resort called Narva-Joesuu, a little past its best but with a pleasant beach and several spa centres.
The bus will also stop at Sillamae, Johvi, Tartu, Valga and Riga airport.
