Water taxi launched in Klaipeda

Posted on May 15th, 2007 · No comments yet · ShareThis

Vandens Taxi, a new boat service launched today, will carry passengers from Klaipeda to the Curonian Spit resort of Nida in one hour. The seaside town has always been within reach of day-trips from Klaipeda, but in good weather the water taxi should be much more appealing than a 90 minute bus ride. Better yet would be to spend a night or two in Nida – the Curonian Spit is an undoubted highlight of a visit to Lithuania.

The boat trip costs 60Lt (€17) one way, or 100Lt (€29) return, with four departures per day. It carries only 10 people at a time, so booking ahead would be advisable – Nida gets very busy during the tourist season. There is a booking form on the website, although it is not a live system. The yacht is also available for private parties, including evening tours with food and live music.
